Marshalls University College, together with PUFA members, engages the President for Presidential Charter to be made optional

As part of the Private Universities Founders Association (PUFA), Marshalls University College participated in a high-level engagement at Jubilee House with the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, focused on reforms to the regulatory framework for private university colleges.

The discussion centred on the long-standing requirement for university colleges operating under public-university mentorship to obtain a Presidential Charter after more than ten years. Marshalls stated that it had complied with existing requirements and formally applied for the charter.

PUFA presented a policy position advocating that the Presidential Charter should become optional for well-established, compliant and high-performing private university colleges. Senior government and regulatory officials participated in the engagement.

According to the published report, the President directed the Minister of Education to prepare policy proposals for Cabinet consideration, with the aim of beginning a statutory amendment process. Marshalls said the engagement demonstrated its growing role in national higher-education policy discussions.
