  • STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES WITH TRAVEL NURSES, USA

Marshalls University College is delighted to announce the latest developments in its ongoing commitment to internationalisation and academic excellence. On Tuesday, 27th August 2024, the institution hosted a collaborative meeting with key representatives from Vantrees Consulting and Business Solutions, based in the United States of America, and the Traveling School Nurses GH Services, registered in Ghana, at the President’s Office. This partnership underscores Marshalls’ ambition to create a global network that enriches the educational and professional opportunities available to students here at Marshalls, as well as our partners abroad.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COLLABORATION

The meeting was attended by Marshalls’ senior leadership, including Dr Tetteh Nettey, the President; Prof Kofi Boakye, the Dean of Academic Affairs and the Executive Secretary of Marshalls Doctoral Faculty (MDF); and Rev Emmanuel Obeng Asare, the Head of Training and Development. This meeting marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the College’s history. Discussions centred around the employment of Marshalls Alumni, student exchange programmes, particularly for students in Healthcare, and the creation of a testing centre for professional and vocational examinations in Ghana, with a focus on the sub-region. Marshalls is poised to be a critical partner in this groundbreaking initiative.

Mr Frank Mills Akuffu and Mrs Kimberly Vantrees Akuffu, representatives of Vantrees Consulting and Business Solutions, USA, and the Traveling School Nurses GH Services, shared insights on the origins of the programme in the USA and its potential benefits for Ghana. They proposed the establishment of a testing centre that would serve as a gateway for Ghanaian professionals, such as nurses, to gain the necessary qualifications and training required for international assignments, particularly in the United States—a proposal that aligns seamlessly with Marshalls’ strategic vision, as articulated by Dr Nettey, who expressed the institution’s readiness to partner with their organisations in executing this agenda.

A VISION FOR GLOBAL EXPANSION

Marshalls University College has always been at the forefront of educational innovation, and this collaboration is a testament to our Board of Governors’ dedication to advancing the vision of our shareholders and other stakeholders. The proposed partnership is not just about establishing a testing centre for professional development; it is also about positioning Marshalls as a key player in the global professional education sector.

Dr Nettey highlighted the College’s ongoing efforts to develop new infrastructure, including an acquired property in Akosombo, aimed at supporting the expansion of our programmes and international collaborations. This partnership with Vantrees Consulting and Business Solutions and the Traveling School Nurses GH Services is a natural extension of Marshalls’ commitment to providing our students with top-notch education and global career opportunities.

EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS

One of the critical outcomes of this partnership is the promise of employment opportunities for Marshalls’ healthcare graduates. Prof Kofi Boakye assured the team that our graduates are well-prepared to excel in various sectors of the health industry, both locally and internationally. From working in pharmacies to serving as community social aides, Marshalls students possess the comprehensive training needed to thrive in diverse healthcare environments in Ghana and the United States of America.

The plan to place Marshalls’ graduates in over 22,000 private schools across Ghana, and potentially in the USA, is a game-changer. This initiative not only promises to elevate the careers of our graduates but also aligns with Marshalls’ long-term goal of contributing to the global healthcare workforce.

LOOKING AHEAD: BUILDING SUSTAINABLE FUTURES

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to move forward with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), focusing on recruitment and employment opportunities for Marshalls graduates. Mrs Kimberly Vantrees Akuffu also assured the gathering that she would work on securing funding to kickstart this initiative, with recruitment interviews set to begin soon.

As Marshalls University College continues to expand its global footprint, we remain dedicated to fulfilling the aspirations of our Board of Governors, shareholders, and other stakeholders. This collaboration with Vantrees is just one of many steps we are taking to ensure that Marshalls remains a leader in international education and a hub for nurturing globally competent professionals.
Stay tuned for more updates as we forge ahead with this exciting partnership and continue to build a brighter, more connected future for our students and the global community.
