Bridging Classroom Learning with Industry Experience.
As part of its commitment to practical and industry-focused education, Marshalls University College organised an exciting academic excursion for Hospitality students to the renowned Safari Valley Resort on 27th May 2026.
The educational trip brought together five enthusiastic Hospitality students and two lecturers for an immersive learning experience designed to expose students to real-world hospitality and tourism operations.
From the moment the team arrived at the resort, students were introduced to the realities of world-class hospitality service delivery. The group observed highly professional security procedures, outstanding guest reception protocols, and exceptional customer service standards.
The welcoming and well-groomed staff also demonstrated effective upselling techniques, giving students valuable insights into practical sales and customer engagement strategies within the hospitality industry.
The excursion featured a guided tour of several remarkable attractions within the resort, including the art gallery, Eco Park, bird sanctuary, zebra enclosure, and various wildlife centres. Students learnt extensively about wildlife conservation and tourism management, with particular focus on animals such as zebras, meerkats, and the Common Eland — recognised as the second-largest antelope species in the world.
One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity for students to feed the zebras and interact closely with experienced tour guides whose professionalism and knowledge enriched the learning experience.
Beyond tourism studies, students also explored the recreational and leisure management components of hospitality through activities such as table tennis, volleyball, cycling, and horse riding. These activities provided practical exposure to guest entertainment and resort recreational planning.
The group later enjoyed a rich three-course buffet lunch featuring both local and continental cuisine. Students observed high standards of professionalism and customer service from the restaurant staff, while also learning the importance of operational efficiency and inventory management within food and beverage service operations.
Another major learning point from the excursion was the resort’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability. Students observed eco-friendly handwashing systems, the use of electric carts for transportation, and beautifully maintained green surroundings that reflect responsible tourism and environmental conservation practices.
The trip also highlighted the importance of community engagement and social responsibility, as students learnt about the resort’s employment of local community members and its effective customer complaint-handling procedures.
Speaking after the trip, the students expressed excitement and appreciation for the opportunity to connect theoretical classroom lessons with practical industry operations. The lecturers also commended the students for their professionalism, discipline, curiosity, and active participation throughout the educational tour.
The academic excursion ended successfully with the team returning safely without any injuries or incidents.
