MARSHALLS FASHION SCHOOL RECEIVES GENEROUS DONATION FROM DIASPORA EXPERT, MS. BERNICE ADU – EMPOWERING FASHION EDUCATION THROUGH GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS

Marshalls University College, through its distinguished Marshalls Fashion School (MFS), is proud to announce a significant boost to its training facilities following a generous donation of GHS10,000.00 by Ms. Bernice Abena Adu, a French-Ghanaian Luxury & Fashion Marketing Specialist based in Paris, France.

The donation, made at the conclusion of her one-month knowledge exchange mission in April 2025, was used to acquire essential industrial fashion equipment for the school. These include:

One (1) Butterfly Embroidery Industrial Sewing Machine (Standalone with Table)

Two (2) Industrial Round Knife Cutting Machines.

These high-grade modern machines are now enhancing practical learning and production training at MFS, offering students a more professional, hands-on experience aligned with international fashion standards.

A GLOBAL INITIATIVE WITH LOCAL IMPACT

Ms. Bernice Adu’s visit was made possible through the EU-Germany-Ghana Joint Action on Jobs, Migration and Development, under the “Roots to Ghana” Campaign (www.rootstoghana.com). This unique initiative is jointly supported by the European Union, the Government of Germany (via GIZ), and the Government of Ghana, aimed at connecting Ghanaian professionals in the diaspora with local institutions to promote sustainable development through knowledge transfer.

As part of the campaign, Ms. Adu was selected as a diaspora expert to contribute her industry experience to Ghana’s educational sector—specifically, Marshalls Fashion School—between 3rd and 29th April 2025.

BERNICE ADU: A MODEL OF EXCELLENCE AND GENEROSITY

Ms. Adu currently serves as a Retail Manager at Galeries Lafayette, Paris, where she oversees the womenswear department. Her extensive background includes leadership roles at Coty, Puig, and Sephora, where she consistently delivered on team performance, strategic sales development, and luxury customer experiences.

During her time at Marshalls, Ms. Adu conducted industry-focused Ai-driven software training, iChats (Marshalls iChat) and Masterclasses, mentoring sessions, and curriculum enhancement consultations with the faculty. Her sessions on brand strategy, fashion retail, and client experience resonated deeply with students and faculty alike, inspiring a fresh wave of innovation and professionalism within the school.

Her donation stands as a testament to her belief in nurturing future talent and her deep connection to Ghana. The management and Head of Department of Marshalls Fashion School have formally expressed their heartfelt appreciation for her support.

STRENGTHENING BONDS THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

This successful engagement highlights Marshalls University College’s continued commitment to international collaboration for institutional growth. The partnership with GIZ Ghana, under the broader EU-Germany-Ghana framework, underscores the university’s vision to be a centre of excellence in practical, globally relevant education.
