
CHAMPIONING HIGHER EDUCATION PATHWAYS FOR GHANA’S LAW ENFORCEMENT: GHANA POLICE SERVICE GRADUATION CEREMONY
Marshalls University College had the honour of participating in the prestigious Passing-Out Ceremony of the Ghana Police Service for junior recruits, hosted at the National Police Training School (NPTS) in Tesano, Accra.
The event marked the graduation of over 1,100 newly trained officers, including over 600 female recruits, who have successfully completed their training and are now poised to serve the nation with integrity and professionalism.
The Reviewing Officer for the ceremony was the Honourable Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, Ghana’s Minister for the Interior. In his keynote remarks, the Minister commended the leadership of the Ghana Police Service and urged the graduates to maintain high standards of discipline and service to country.
Among the award recipients was PW/SGT. Sophia Elikplim Dedjoe, who distinguished herself by winning both the Best Under-Cadet (NPTS) Academics and the National Best Female Recruit Award, a proud moment of excellence and empowerment for women in the security sector.
The event was held under the able leadership of ACP Mike Baah, Commanding Officer of NPTS. Known for his exemplary team spirit, communication prowess, and strategic leadership, ACP Baah continues to uphold the NPTS legacy of excellence in police training.




About the National Police Training School (NPTS)
Founded in 1930, the NPTS is Ghana’s foremost police training institution. Its roots trace back to 1894 during the era of the Gold Coast Police Force. It currently trains thousands of recruits annually, with a special focus on:
i. Police professionalism and ethics
ii. Public engagement and responsibilities
iii. Practical policing skills (law, ICT, investigation, and order management)
iv. Physical fitness, discipline, and tactical readiness
The school has trained over 16,000 female officers and collaborates with six other regional training centres. The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has introduced an enhanced curriculum that now includes Riding, Driving, Swimming, High-Risk Operations, and Public Order Management, ensuring that new officers meet global standards of policing.
