Baboucarr Gillen, a proud alumnus of Marshalls University College and former star of the legendary Marshalls Basketball Team — The Giant Killers — has been elected as the 2nd Vice President of the Gambia Basketball Association (GBA)!
This announcement comes with immense pride as we witness a former student-athlete rise to a national leadership role in Gambian sports governance. Baboucarr, whose passion for basketball began on the courts of Serrekunda East and was refined through rigorous academic and athletic training at Marshalls, now joins a dynamic GBA leadership team comprising:

A TRAILBLAZER ON AND OFF THE COURT
During his time at Marshalls, Baboucarr was instrumental in establishing the university’s basketball team, guiding them, as the team’s first captain, through an impressive run that saw the Giant Killers defeat some of Ghana’s most formidable university teams — University of Cape Coast, University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and University of Ghana (Legon) — in both the University Basketball Competitive Games and Private Universities Basketball Tournaments.
His tenacity, leadership, and winning mindset were evident not only on the court but also in his academic life and campus influence. These same qualities have propelled him to this prestigious national appointment.
