Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management at Marshalls University is designed to develop competent professionals who can lead in planning, developing, managing and marketing tourism destinations and services. You’ll gain a blend of theory and hands-on learning (field trips, internships), so you’re ready for work in Ghana’s vibrant tourism and hospitality sector, as well as internationally.

Duration & Credit Requirements

Duration: 4 academic years (8 semesters), for regular entry.

Credit Hours: Approximately 120-130 credits (core + electives + general education + practicum).

Entry Requirements: WASSCE/SSSCE with credit passes in English, Mathematics, and other relevant electives (e.g. Geography, Economics, Social Studies). Mature applicants and holders of relevant diplomas may be considered for advanced placement.

Learning Outcomes

Understand the economic, socio-cultural, environmental and legal dimensions of tourism, locally and globally.

Plan, design, manage, and market tourism destinations and products.

Apply sustainable and ethical principles to tourism development and operations.

Use ICT and information systems in tourism and travel operations.

Conduct research, analyze data, and make evidence-based decisions for tourism businesses or policy.

Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Engage in professional practice with integrity and awareness of local & global tourism trends.

Practical Experience

To bridge theory and practice, students will:

Undertake field trips to tourist destinations, heritage sites, travel agencies, etc.

Complete at least one internship / industrial attachment (often during Levels 300-400).

Participate in case studies, workshops, simulations.

Work on a research or capstone project in the final year.professionals to link theory with practice
