Overview

The BSc in Human Resource Management prepares you to become a strategic HR professional capable of managing and developing an organisation’s human capital ethically, innovatively, and effectively. You will gain a strong understanding of both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of recruitment, organisational behaviour, labour relations, compensation, training and development, and more. Graduates are well equipped for HR roles in the private, public, or non-profit sectors, both locally and internationally.

Duration & Credit Requirements

Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)

Credit Hours: Approximately 120–136 credits (core + electives + general education + research/practicum)

Entry Requirements: Standard Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE / SSSCE), HND, Advanced Diploma and other equivalent qualifications with credits in core subjects; supplementary requirements may include English, Mathematics

Learning Outcomes

Apply HR theories, models, and tools in recruitment, staff development, performance appraisal, compensation, and retention.

Understand and interpret labour laws, industrial relations, and legal/ethical dimensions of HR in Ghana and globally.

Use quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse HR problems, design solutions, and make data-informed decisions.

Leverage HR information systems (HRIS) for efficient HR operations.

Lead organisational change and development initiatives in diverse, multicultural settings.

Communicate effectively, collaborate, and function as a professional HR practitioner in teams.

Demonstrate professionalism, ethical judgement, and commitment to continuous learning.

Assessment & Practical Exposure

Mix of assignments, quizzes, mid-sem exams, end of sem exams

Case studies, simulations, role-plays, group projects

Major research project work / thesis in final year

Internship / industrial attachment, especially in Level 300 & 400 to give real workplace experience

Guest lectures, seminars with HR professionals to link theory with practice
